Memorial Day Parade 1967
Thanks Leo!
You
are about to see never before published photos from the Memorial Day
parade of 1967. These were taken by Leo Geerts, a chemical
engineer from Antwerp Belgium who stayed in a hotel for 2 months
while training with the Union Carbide Chemicals Plants. He
couldnt remember the name of the hotel he stayed in however, and
in his search, found the photo on mywvhome.com. It was the Heart
O Town. In gratitude, he sent me photos of a parade that he shot
that summer, mostly the girls leading the parade. Why? (like you have
to ask) He says "I have a number of pictures,
especially the high school girls...something we do not see in Belgium."
So for the first time ever, here are just some of Leo's photos.

Are these the Belle Rainbow Girls?

High School. Regular uniforms were black with ornate trim.
Informal cotton uniforms were worn for pep assemblies, practice, and
warm weather functions that weren't game-related.
