The Turnpike graves of Marmet.

When the WV Turnpike was being build, several cemeteries were in the way and had to be moved.  These articles concern the findings and removal of some of those graves in and around Marmet WV.  Some graves are still under the Turnpike.

 

One of the more interesting things about this article is the mention of the cemetery out towards Davis Creek.  That cemetery today is at Ruthdale and is called the "Graceland Cemetery, a large and well appointed cemetery.
