HILLCREST TUBERCULOSIS SANITARIUM
When
I was a kid, one of the many places I lived was on Duffy Street right
behind the DMV building. I lived in a house that had been
converted into two apartments. We had the top floor and I had the
extremely large attic all to myself as my bedroom. I had a
Japanese sword that my moms husband brought back from the war, and
given to me. I used that sword to hack my way to the top of
Hillcrest, which was at the end of Duffy St, across the tracks.
There was a building that I'd go to, that had a wall of windows
across the front. Inside I could see many white iron beds. I was
told that this was the old tuberculosis clinic property. I dont
recall seeing other buildings, and the place had closed
down by then. This was around 1961. People have asked me to
post something about the clinic, so here's what I have:
