Any
time anything is built in any city, it's the politicians who seem
to get all the credit. They get their name on the building or
property, when in fact it's the taxpayers who allowed the building to
take place. You never hear about the men who actually BUILT the
facility. I want to correct that here and now. Below are
the WV men who worked tirelessly to build Kanawha (now Yeager) Airport
using the somewhat primitive machines of the day. These unsung
workers never got their names on any plaques, yet they were involved in
one of the largest earth-moving projects on the North American
continent up to that point.
Here then is a list of WV men
involved with the building of the airport. Not every man hired
can be listed for this presentation but most are below.
